COOL
Snowing!Paige had some beautiful puppies! They got a lot of attention from would be buyers, but ofcourse could only go home with one. This litters buyers stretched out pretty far on the map. Rose, now Roxy, flew all the way to Virginia! Dubs and Hershey ended up going to Alabama, (though not together). Cookies and Cream, now Cooper stayed in Tennessee and Lil bit went to Kentucky.
I got to meet some wonderful people who were so very excited to be getting a puppy, I know they went to good homes and will be spoiled rotten! I can't wait to see some pictures as they grow.
Indy, dear sweet Indy, is still with us. He has gotten a few emails and even a few calls, but no one has followed through yet. I know his perfect home is out there. It is just taking a little longer to find it. Till then, he is going to be a part of our family. He has been potty training. And he is doing very well at it. He sleeps in his crate all night like a good boy and first thing in the morning we go outside. He has accidents still, but they are few. He is such a sweet boy, gets soo excited when we come home. And he just loves to play! It is so funny to watch him chase after my 3yr old in a game of tag. He is definitly super great with kids and dogs. I do hope we find his forever home soon, or else I might get too attached! I don't want to cry when he leaves... he is a great boy and will make someone very happy. He is a lap dog, such a good boy.
I am already planning our next litter. Queenie Pie will be coming into heat next month. She will be put to Milo. I really can't wait for this litter. I just love Queenies frame. She is strong, blocky and very muscular build. I just wish she was longer.. hince Milo. Milo is LONG and LEAN. Very short legs. I think the mixing of them two together will produce some beautiful Low to the ground, stocky short dachshunds! and i can't wait! Colors we expect are Cream, Cream Brindle, Black and Cream and Black and tans. All will carry for piebald and dilute.
Happy NEW Year!!
It has been a great crazy year here at the Clover Patch. We had some wonderfull puppies this year, who all found their perfect homes. I got to meet a lot of loving people who were excited and happy to be getting a puppy.
We also got some of our very own puppies here. I picked up Milo a couple of months ago. He is our new Cream Brindle, a beautiful boy who we hope to breed to Queenie Pie next March.
I am finally getting a dapple. I have put a deposit on a wonderful shorthair chocolate dapple. He is coming all the way from Texas!

It has truly been a blessed year. I am greatfull to all my puppy buyers, thank you for trusting me to provide you with a new family member. I hope you all the best in the year to come!

I get a lot of questions. Most of them are simple quesitons like, "Is mom a long hair?". Or sometimes the more complex like "Which is smarter short or longs?". But today, I got thrown for a loop. Someone called and said "Tell me about the parents". Alright, I sputtered off some info about their personalities but really didn't know what they wanted to know. Then I was asked "How do you raise your dogs?" My only response was "huh?".
How do I raise them? I had no answer, I wasn't clear on the question and what exactly they wanted to know. So I was asked, did I raise them or buy them. I bought them as puppies and raised them up to adults..... Is that what you mean? I was confused and caught off guard, totally clueless. So I don't think the conversation went well. I don't think I was very helpful. I just didn't know what information they were seeking.
Leave it to me to not get it. I told my 12 yr old daughter about the conversation and she just says "duh, we raise them in home, not in cages or kennels." Oh, well that can make sense, but somehow I don't think that is what they wanted to know.
Well in puppy news. The pups are getting their teeth. They are trying to chew on everything. I gave them their first toy a couple of days ago. A few of them were interested in making it crackle. The toy was in there for about 2 days till it went missing. I am going to assume King Louie stole it. He is a toy stasher. I havn't found it yet, but till I do, I will be giving the pups a new toy. They have also started eating mush, watered down puppy food. They LOVE it! Weaning this litter is going to be a breeze, they really like the puppy food. So far they are only getting a bowl a day, they still very much need mom at this age.
Merry Christmas!!

The puppies were wide awake last night at around 11pm. I was getting ready for bed and they were all excited to see me. Sorry babies, its bed time. I played with them for a few min, let them chew on me and lick me to pieces. Though their legs are still wobbley they try very hard to act like a big bad dog and chew and pounce on their siblings. Its just adorable.
Here is the video from last night.

Well I know I have said before how much Queenie Pie loves these puppies. She just can't get enough of them and everychance she gets she goes and cleans them. Paige is always running her off in a nice way. Paige has never been an aggressive dog, so all she really does is give a soft growl curl her lip and Pie Pie moves on. Well this morning before I left to go work on the house Paige was going nutty wanting me to go check on her pups (She does this a lot), so I didn't think much of it.
I go in my room and out of the corner of my eye I see Queenie Pie in the box. Just laying down with the pups. Obviously, Paige couldn't get her to leave so Mom to the rescue. I picked up Queenie Pie but couldn't take her out of the box cause... now get this.... 2 puppies were attached! She was nursing the puppies. I took them off and shooed Pie Pie away. I left my room and a few min later I hear Paige in attack mode. I run to the room and Queenie Pie is back in the box
I kick her out again, but this time shut the door. I leave, go to work. When I come home I open my room back up and Queenie Pie wastes no time getting back in the box. I catch her again nursing the pups. Just for my curiosity I check her out and sure enough she is even producing milk. Never been pregnant. All I can say is that she REALLY wants puppies of her own. Her next heat will be in March. I will breed her to Milo. That should make her happy.
Meanwhile, I am gonna have to move mom and the puppies into a pen. Its a little early for a pen, but don't have much choice.
I do think it is extremely cute and adorable that she likes the puppies that much. I mean wow!
Doesn't she look so peacefull with the puppies, Paige is in no way amused I assure you!
Ahhh, it is the Christmas season!
And the emails have already started, people looking for Christmas pups. Sorry to say, but no my litter will not be ready to go home by Christmas. Not even by New Years. They will be 8 weeks old and ready to go home Jan. 14th. That is a few short 6 weeks and will be here before you know it.
Oh the pups are so sweet at this age. You pick them up to love on them and they just lick you to death. So many kisses from something so small. They have also found their voices. A lot of grunting and growling, not to mention the soft squeak of a bark. They make all kinds of noises when calling for their mom. She sneaks away when she can, but like little kids, they are always hungry. I do love this stage where they are getting all fat and rolly polly. Just soo cute. Mom has her paws full with SIX little mouths to feed.
So Merry Christmas to you all, and good luck to those who are looking for a puppy on Christmas day. Just remember being told your getting a puppy and being able to see his/her cute face on a computer and know its yours can be just as exciting as having it on Christmas day.
It has been a long day. I just now got the puppy pictures up. I soo totally need a new camera. No mater what I do these pictures always seem so blurry, just bad pictures. Every once in a while the camera will play nice and give me a perfectly crystal shot. I wish I knew the secret trick to get it to do it everytime!
I was really worried the puppies eyes would be all cooky looking, but they have opened rather quickly. I am surprised. Most of the pups are completely open. Ofcourse the color is gray, The beautiful green eyes won't come in till around 6 weeks. They are also getting more mobile, picking up their heads and stretching out their legs. Not walking, more of a forwards crawl but the muscles are working well and they are on the move.
Milo, dear sweet Milo. I still havn't found any treats he loves or even likes. He did wake up a couple of days ago and decide he likes me. Now all of a sudden he wants to follow me, and right now is at my feet licking me. Don't know if he just finally figured it out "Oh YOUR the mom!" Don't know. Do know I put him in Puppy basic boot camp. He is attached to a lease at all times made to follow me or someone around, This is the best way I know how to potty train. Keep them with you at all times. He hated it. He didn't want to do any of it, but it works. He hasn't pooped in the house in about 2 days. A few days of being forced to be around us and now all of a sudden he wants to. He is a good pup, I do love his personality.
Some pups just need a lot of time and trust and eventually they feel safe enough to come out of their shell. It is frustrating, it can be heartbreaking, but it is worth it. Eventually they will trust you, some are not outgoing they don't want to play ball all they want to do is cuddle. And some only want to play.
What ever personality your pup has, embrace it, build on it, make a lasting friendship.
Looking at the pups today and they are starting the pirate phase. One Eyed Willie (you know from The Goonies ), a couple of the puppies are already getting the little corners of their eyes to open. I love it when they first start to look around. Seeing the world for the first time. Its not a very exciting view, afterall it is my closet! Picking them up and having them just stare at my face trying to figure me out. They are such precious little creatures.
2 week pictures is only 2 days away. Thankfully their eyes will still be mostly shut. I feel bad for them if I have to show pictures of them in this akward phase. It is not flattering for them in their One Eyed Willie look.
Hershey is proving to be the strongest of the bunch. She has a bit of additude to go with it. Little turkey grunted at me and then gave a big huff when i picked her up today to change out their bedding. All the other pups, were calm and don't mind being moved. Hershey had to give me her oppinion on the subject. Too cute..
I Microchip my dogs.
I started looking into microchipping the puppies before they go home. I think it is beneficial for everybody for me to do this while they are younge. I am still looking into it. I need to pick a company to go with. I am thinking about using Home Again.
I will talk to some potential customers and see how they feel about having this done. If it is received well I will go ahead and do the whole litter in Jan.
How do you feel about Microchipping? Would it be an added value to the cost of the pup?
The Clover Patch as a new flower in the mix.... Meet Milo!
Milo is a future dad here at CloverPatchDoxies. He is a Cream Brindle. I love his frame, he comes from beautiful lines. Very low to the ground, Long and low like a dachie should be. His coat is very full and long. He is going to make some beautiful puppies.
We picked up Milo from LongFellow dachshunds up in KY. He is an older pup and almost 5 months old. He has been with us for about a week now and has fit in pretty good. She has a kennel and is a bigger breeder than myself which means though he is a very quality pup, it also means he is very shy. He has a lot to learn and is in no way wanting to learn any of it. He has figured out his name, and when you call it he just looks at you and runs the other way.
I have been trying to find a treat or something that he likes to help train him and make him more comfortable. He likes nothing..... Hmmm, he is proving to be a hard case to crack. He is just so shy and timid that he doesn't want to do much with us. I don't give in easy. I will keep working with him. He does like the quiet things, like laying in bed with us. He has adapted well with the other dachies, he is a part of the pack and fitted right in.
OK, they are a day late but they are up. They havn't changed much in one week. They are a little bigger, a lot stronger and make much more noise. They are strong and thriving.
We had a great Thanksgiving, they dogs ate every piece of Turkey they got their paws on. Which comes in handy.... A plate was dropped on the floor and the pups had no problems helping clean up the mess. Dogs are great where else can you find a combination garbage disposal/alarm system/friend??
This is their One week group photo. Two of the female chocolates have collars so that I can tell them apart. Rose is in the red collar, and Hershey is in the rainbow collar. I can tell them apart with out the collars, but you never know one day I might get real confused on who is who. They don't mind the collars, they are loose and don't get in the way.
The puppies are one week old today. Normally I would be posting their one week old photos today, but it is a very busy day today. Family is coming over, and lots of cooking. It has started out to be a wonderful day. There is so much to be thankful for. I hope your day is going just as well and your turkey comes out juicy!
It is a great day for us for one reason.... My husband is home, he got back early Monday morning. We have had a great week. The kids were jumping out of there skin they were so excited to see him home. Everyone is starting to fall into life as usual, its almost like he never left.
Ok... time to get back to the family. I just wanted to let you all know that the pictures will be coming, but a day late..
Have a great Thanksgiving!

Here they are the whole gang!
Six beautiful babies. Mom is eating and getting some much deserved rest with her pups.
Queenie Pie is just in awe of the puppies. She is trying to see them as much as possible without actually getting close to them. Paige doesn't want her, or any dog around right now. Pie Pie understands that but just can't get enough of them. She is so curious, smelling everything and listening to every wimper. It will be her turn next to have pups, and I think she will do just fine.
Individual pictures of the pups are on the Puppies Page.
Paige and the pups are resting peacefully.
She ended up having 6 puppies. I am still amazed. We were off by one. Everyone here guessed 5. They are all healthy and strong. There is one runt. A chocolate female, very tiny little girl weighing in at only 4 ounces compared with 6-7 ounces of her siblings. She has been bottle fed and is very strong for her size.
The puppy count is as follows.
Three Chocolate Females. No white spots on chest, 1 is a lighter color and the other 2 are dark chocolate.
Two Piebald males. I am tentatively calling them Cookies and Cream. They both have a lot of spots.
One Chocolate Male. He has a white blaze on his chest.
I will be posting pictures in the next few hours on the Puppies Page. I am so excited that they are finally here!
After an hour of Labor. We have 2 chocolate females, 2 piebald boys, and one chocolate boy.
Will have pictures once pups are clean and settled.
Feels like we might have a possible #6 on the way!
cloudy, overcast and cold
Well today is the much awaited due date! I asked Paige how she felt about delivering today, and she gave me a distinct look of "NO", then rolled over to have me rub her belly. Looks like no puppies today. The due date calculator is not an exact science. There is a window of about 3 days +/- as to when she will pop.
She has in the last couple of days developed a huge attitude towards the other dogs. She will no longer share her food, Mind you my dachies each have their own bowls but they have never actually eaten out of their own bowls. They like to eat together out of the same bowls,,, whose ever bowl that might be. So for Paige to up and decide this bowl is hers and no one elses is out of character. So it if definitly getting close if she is getting cranky.
Oh but as much as she is getting bitter towards her dog family, she is still a mommas girl. I love how she wants to lay with me, and have me rub her belly. All the pups were active last night and i could feel each one of them moving around. I counted 4 heads.
She is still my big baby.
Hopefully my next update with be about delivery!
Little miss is HUGE. Loving on her today, you can feel her spine. I hate this part of the pregnancy. The part where the belly gets so heavy her spine can be felt. Makes me feel sympathy pains for her... oh The acheing back! Though to see her you wouldn't know it, she walks and runs with ease. The only problem she is having... is a hard time jumping on the couch. She is stubborn and not asking for my help at the moment, but I am sure that will change in a few days when she can't move that big ol belly up on the cushions. I am trying to encourage her to take it easy, i think she feels like super dog.
Reality is that she can pop as soon as this weekend. I have started prepping her whelping box. So far she is not interested and is only going in it if i am there (to get belly rubs). Her box is in my bedroom, she is only in there at night time. So if she starts spending a lot of time in my room while Im not in there,, i know it is almost time.
I am getting excited.... How about you!
I love getting your emails! But at times my replies cannot go through. Please be sure that when you fill out my form that your email address is correct. I always answer my emails, so if you do not hear back from me check your spam folder or send another note to me.
You can always contact me directly at cloverpatchdoxies@yahoo.com
To answer a recent question. I do not have any puppies available right now. I have a litter being born sometime next week. They will all be long haired chocolates in either a solid or piebald pattern. They will also all have green eyes.
I am a small breeder and have only 2 litters a year. I do not have any older puppies or adults for sale. As soon as this litter is born (Day 1) they will be posted to the puppies page, they will be ready to go home at 8 weeks old. Right around the second week of January.
I hope this answers some questions. You can always email me for more information. Thanks!

Here is my ham. Oh my goodness has she gotten HUGE!
The running guess around here is 5, but that is only cause she looks so big.. I am guessing 4. I can't see the little guys bumping around in there yet. Hopefully, in the next week or so I should be able see them moving around. For now mom is still full of lots of energy, she has not nested at all. Other than the huge belly, you wouldn't know she was pregnant at all.
Its hard to believe we have only a short 2 weeks left to wait!

After a long fun filled day chasing squirls, Paige snuggled up with me on the couch.
This is her six week belly bump pictures..
She got woken up by the flash.. she was all relaxed. This is the first pic i got, she looked so peaceful.
Yes she does sleep upright. She snuggles her self in the crack of my body and the couch. Her and King Louie have to be touching me when we sit together. They are so sweet.
All the dogs got a bath yesterday. They were none to pleased. It was cold outside, which meant they couldn't go outside and dry off in the sun. Boy did they need a bath.. All of them went playing in the rain a few days ago and got sooo muddy. They just love to play in the rain (and mud).
Paige is finally "showing". I was rubbing her belly last night and I noticed a little curve to it.
Sure enough her belly finally dropped, she has a pooch belly! Its not big enough to take pictures of yet, I am still gonna give her about another week before she poses for me.
It seems to all be going soo fast! I can't seem to catch me breath on it. She will be having puppies in about 4 weeks! 4 weeks!!! That seems like no time at all.
Also found out last night that my Husband has a tenative leave date of November 19th. If all goes well, they will leave Afghanistan on that date and hopefully be home stateside a few days later.
It feels like a neck in neck race. Puppies due the 18th, Hubby the 19th..... Who will get here first...?
I am still undecided if I will get the Xray of Paiges litter before she pops. The Xray is fun to look at and lets ya know how many pupps to expect. But I don't really NEED it. I got a couple more weeks before I decide. Hmmm,, Do any of you want to see it?
Had to do a bit of grocery shopping today. Went to WallyWorld to pick up some much needed items.
Ofcourse you can't get far without all the halloween costumes and candy all about. I broke down and bought my youngest daughter a batgirl costume, and the others got some masks just for fun. I took a bunch of pictures on my phone and of course this phone won't email the photos, so I don't have any to share! Which is bad cause I also broke down and got outfits for the dogs.
Yes I did! I got a shirt for Louie that says "Trick or Treat" and a frilly collar for Paige that has ghosts and things on it. Both glow in the dark!
I always said I would never be one of those crazy dog ladies that dresses up their pets, but I couldn't resist! They are gonna be so cute on halloween night. All my pups just love meeting people and getting attention. I wanted an outfit for Queenie Pie too, but they were all just too big. I am gonna have to shop around to see if I can't find a frilly collar for her to wear too. If anything, I will go back and get her the same frilly neck thing that I got Paige and they can match.
I can dress them up every now and then and still not be a "crazy dog lady", right?? Is that allowed? I can get a free pass for halloween, and maybe Christmas too.....
Its a cold night with a freeze warning... BurrrrOK,, already getting emails and questions asking about belly pics.
Nothing yet, No baby belly bump to show off, she still has her petite figure. There shouldn't be a noticeable puppy bump for about 2 more weeks, at 6 weeks along. For now she is acting like her usual self, except asking for more and more belly rubs, she is such a ham.
I read the due date reel wrong! She is due November 18, with a wiggle room of 3 days before or after. I don't know how I managed to read it wrong, think I just got caught up in the excitment.
We have been keeping busy with life as usual. Kevin should be coming home from Afghanistan at the end of November. It is really exciting, things are starting to happen that shows the guys are coming home. There is packing and reintegration briefings, newsletters, and updates! I am just so excited. November is fixing to be a wonderful month!
No, Queenie Pie will not be bred. She hasn't reached a year old yet. So on her next heat we will be breeding her. I want to find a Chocolate male to put her to. So that there is a chance for chocoate/tans and black/tans in both solids and piebalds. I think that would be a fun litter. I have not decided if I want to find a stud for her or if i want to invest in another male. I am not sure how King Louie would like having another boy dog around. Afterall he thinks he's the "King".
I don't want a lot of dogs. I want to keep the quality time, and personal attention there. If I have too many, I fear I cannot be as attentive as they would need me to be, which is why I still don't know about getting that Chocolate male for Queenie.
I do have pushing need to find another dog though. I need a guard dog. Sham, my big dog, is officially retired. He has lost a mojority of his hearing this last couple of months. Vet says he is just old. He has also lost some eye sight, and has some other health issues that have developed this last year. It has come on so fast, I know he isn't younge anymore, I am just shocked at how fast he got old. He will be turning 13 this November 25, right around the time Paiges litter is due.
Good old dog, who used to hear me in the drive way didn't even notice I was home. I came in, put down my groceries and he was sound asleep in the front room. He didn't move a muscle. He didn't wake up till one on the kids when to love on him. He woke up and then looked at me with a huge smile that said "Hey, your home!"
He is such a good boy!
And I got caught rambling... As I was saying..... Nope, no puppies for Queenie pie this time. She is not happy beind secluded, but I do put Paige with her so she is not alone in a cage. Poor baby, she just doesn't understand. She and Louie are best friends and she just doesn't get why she can't play with him. Her heat is almost done, and she can be with her best bud again.
