Seven Week Belly Pics

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Beautiful fall day! warm and cool at the same time

Here is my ham.  Oh my goodness has she gotten HUGE!

The running guess around here is 5, but that is only cause she looks so big.. I am guessing 4. I can't see the little guys bumping around in there yet. Hopefully, in the next week or so I should be able see them moving around. For now mom is still full of lots of energy, she has not nested at all.  Other than the huge belly, you wouldn't know she was pregnant at all.

Its hard to believe we have only a short 2 weeks left to wait!

Six week belly bump

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Cloudy and kinda cold.

After a long fun filled day chasing squirls, Paige snuggled up with me on the couch.

This is her six week belly bump pictures..

She got woken up by the flash.. she was all relaxed.  This is the first pic i got, she looked so peaceful.

Yes she does sleep upright. She snuggles her self in the crack of my body and the couch. Her and King Louie have to be touching me when we sit together. They are so sweet.

All the dogs got a bath yesterday.  They were none to pleased. It was cold outside, which meant they couldn't go outside and dry off in the sun. Boy did they need a bath..  All of them went playing in the rain a few days ago and got sooo muddy.  They just love to play in the rain (and mud).

Belly Drop!

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Rain this morning, Nice the rest of the day!

Paige is finally "showing".  I was rubbing her belly last night and I noticed a little curve to it.

Sure enough her belly finally dropped, she has a pooch belly!  Its not big enough to take pictures of yet, I am still gonna give her about another week before she poses for me.

It seems to all be going soo fast!  I can't seem to catch me breath on it.  She will be having puppies in about 4 weeks!  4 weeks!!!  That seems like no time at all.

Also found out last night that my Husband has a tenative leave date of November 19th.  If all goes well, they will leave Afghanistan on that date and hopefully be home stateside a few days later.

It feels like a neck in neck race. Puppies due the 18th, Hubby the 19th.....  Who will get here first...?

I am still undecided if I will get the Xray of Paiges litter before she pops. The Xray is fun to look at and lets ya know how many pupps to expect. But I don't really NEED it.   I got a couple more weeks before I decide.  Hmmm,, Do any of you want to see it?

Dressing them UP!

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Beautiful sunny day, slightly chilly night!

Had to do a bit of grocery shopping today.  Went to WallyWorld to pick up some much needed items.

Ofcourse you can't get far without all the halloween costumes and candy all about.  I broke down and bought my youngest daughter a batgirl costume, and the others got some masks just for fun.  I took a bunch of pictures on my phone and of course this phone won't email the photos, so I don't have any to share! Which is bad cause I also broke down and got outfits for the dogs.

Yes I did!  I got a shirt for Louie that says "Trick or Treat" and a frilly collar for Paige that has ghosts and things on it.  Both glow in the dark!

I always said I would never be one of those crazy dog ladies that dresses up their pets, but I couldn't resist!  They are gonna be so cute on halloween night. All my pups just love meeting people and getting attention.  I wanted an outfit for Queenie Pie too, but they were all just too big.  I am gonna have to shop around to see if I can't find a frilly collar for her to wear too. If anything, I will go back and get her the same frilly neck thing that I got Paige and they can match.

I can dress them up every now and then and still not be a "crazy dog lady",  right??  Is that allowed?  I can get a free pass for halloween,  and maybe Christmas too.....

Nothing yet.

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Its a cold night with a freeze warning... Burrrr

OK,, already getting emails and questions asking about belly pics.

Nothing yet,  No baby belly bump to show off, she still has her petite figure.  There shouldn't be a noticeable puppy bump for about 2 more weeks, at 6 weeks along. For now she is acting like her usual self, except asking for more and more belly rubs, she is such a ham.

I read the due date reel wrong! She is due November 18, with a wiggle room of 3 days before or after.  I don't know how I managed to read it wrong, think I just got caught up in the excitment.

We have been keeping busy with life as usual.  Kevin should be coming home from Afghanistan at the end of November.  It is really exciting, things are starting to happen that shows the guys are coming home.  There is packing and reintegration briefings, newsletters, and updates!  I am just so excited. November is fixing to be a wonderful month!

Queenie pie

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Rain, Rain and more Rain

No, Queenie Pie will not be bred.  She hasn't reached a year old yet. So on her next heat we will be breeding her.  I want to find a Chocolate male to put her to.  So that there is a chance for chocoate/tans and black/tans in both solids and piebalds. I think that would be a fun litter.  I have not decided if I want to find a stud for her or if i want to invest in another male. I am not sure how King Louie would like having another boy dog around.  Afterall he thinks he's the "King".

I don't want a lot of dogs. I want to keep the quality time, and personal attention there.  If I have too many, I fear I cannot be as attentive as they would need me to be, which is why I still don't know about getting that Chocolate male for Queenie.

I do have pushing need to find another dog though. I need a guard dog.  Sham, my big dog, is officially retired.  He has lost a mojority of his hearing this last couple of months.  Vet says he is just old.  He has also lost some eye sight, and has some other health issues that have developed this last year. It has come on so fast, I know he isn't younge anymore, I am just shocked at how fast he got old. He will be turning 13 this November 25, right around the time Paiges litter is due.

Good old dog, who used to hear me in the drive way didn't even notice I was home.  I came in, put down my groceries and he was sound asleep in the front room. He didn't move a muscle.  He didn't wake up till one on the kids when to love on him.  He woke up and then looked at me with a huge smile that said "Hey, your home!"

He is such a good boy!

And I got caught rambling...  As I was saying..... Nope, no puppies for Queenie pie this time.  She is not happy beind secluded, but I do put Paige with her so she is not alone in a cage.  Poor baby, she just doesn't understand. She and Louie are best friends and she just doesn't get why she can't play with him.   Her heat is almost done, and she can be with her best bud again.

Heat Started

  • Mood: Puppies!
  • Weather: Fall is setting in, getting cooler, still very nice outside

Time goes by so fast!  Already time to prepare for the next litter.

Paige, dear sweet wonderful Paige, has started her heat.  Along with Queenie pie. They started just one day from each other. I always find it funny how girls get in sync with eachother.

Next week Paige will be fertile.   Hopefully everthing will go well, and she and King Louie will tie.  We will have a litter of puppies around November 22-26.  That would give them a go home date of around the 3 week of January. It sounds so far away!  It will be here so quick.

This litter will be all Long Haired Chocolates. Pattern will be solids (with points) and Piebalds.  As always with this pairing all pups will have green eyes.

Last litter produced 1 Chocolates with Cream points. Very excited to see if it happens again.

It will be about a month before Paige will start to show.  Again I will have her pregnancy photos up so you can watch her belly grow. I will be posting all the photos and follow ups in the blog here instead of on the puppies page.

Wow..  November.  Thanksgiving Puppies!  That will be a busy week, puppies to look forward to, big dinner to plan and a husband coming home from Afghanistan.  It is going to be a wonderful month!

Last pup is sold

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Very Rainy, kids have bee playing in it. Lots of fun!

Wow, it happened so fast I can hardly believe it.

Flower has a new home.  She was picked up today by her new mommy and daddy Melissa and Jacob!  They completely fell inlove with her.

I mean it really was that fast, they emailed yesterday and picked her up today.  So for all of you that are in the looking phase of finding a pup, be ready to jump on the one you like.  They can be sold so quick.  I know I have had a pup sold right under me.  I just wasn't quick enough to put in my deposit, took to long to think about it and when I was ready, I was too late.  She was sold.

It is a good idea to know your price range, know what your looking for, and be ready to buy when you've found it.  Breeders get a lot of emails and calls about their puppies, it is hard to know which buyer will write you back or is serious about getting the puppy.

I thank all my puppy buyers for trusting me to give them very special new family members.  I hope all of you are doing well and if you ever have any questions about puppy raising or teaching, call me or email me.  I am here to help.

I do have a waiting list for my next litter. If you want to be added to it, let me know.  The next litter isn't due till this winter around December time frame.  I won't be updating this blog till Paige is pregnant. There will be lots of pregnant belly pics and updates on how she is doing.

Thanks again!

growing up

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Nice sunny day. Cool breezes

Well Little Flower is 10 weeks old.  She spends her entire day outside of her pen.  She only goes in there at night and when I leave the house for a while.  Since she has "out grown" the pen.  I have taken it down and she is being Upgraded to a kennel.  She will only go in there at night and when I have to be gone for more than an hour. You could say this is crate training.  She should do very well, and this will help with her potty training.  Which she is doing very well on!

Taking down the pen, was kind of sad.  Made me miss having infant puppies.  They arn't babies anymore.  They are toddlers.  This is the most fun stage. They want to play, follow you around and kiss you to death.  But i do miss the cuteness of the infant stage.

I have gotten a bit of interest in her this week.  She has gotten inquiries from as far as California!  Nothing is official yet, she is still available.  I do find it so neat how far and wide this website reaches.

When I had this litter, I didn't think I would be shipping any of them.  I am in the middle of a couple major cities, I though for sure they would stay local.  Now I find myself looking into airlines and good deals on crates.

I do find this opens a whole new field of worry.  When you meet people you can rest assured you are sending to a good home.  Shipping them, means I have to hope it all works out.  I don't get to meet the new mom or dad.

So please don't fault me for being a worry wort, Breeders have to watch out for so many scams involving the shipping of puppies. A very common one is for someone to send "extra" money on the money order.  You cash the money order and give them the extra cash and your beloved puppy.  Only to find out later that the money order was a fake.  Your out cash and a puppy.

So if you ever wondered why some breeders are so picky about the type of money order, that is why.  There is also the reason that not all banks accept all money orders. As strange as it sounds it is true.

Yea, I know...... A whole bunch of stuff you probally don't want to know!  But I figure if your reading this your probally still in the "looking" phase of finding a pup, and you probally have a lot of questions.  I can atleast answer one of two.

So if you do have any questions about why we breeders do this or that, email me.  I will answer as best I can.

10 week pics.

I can't believe it has been 10 weeks since those little darlings were all wet and wiggly.

They have all turned out so nicely and all have be adopted into great homes. Flowers perfect home is out there, she just has to wait a little longer. Who knows,,, It could be YOU! LOL.

I updated her pictures today.  She didn't want to sit pretty for me so we went outside to see if I could get any clear shots that way.  I have a horrible camera, that hates to focus! but the shots turned out pretty well.

Mom and dad kept interferring with the photo shoot. They would either play with flower or try and lick me to death since I was on the ground.  They are such hams!

I put a collar on Flower, she is definitly old enough to have one now.  She needs to get used to it.  The first couple of hourse she hated having it on and kept scratching at it.  Now she doesn't even notice it at all or bother with it.

She only gets locked up at night.  I keep her in the house with me all the time so she can be potty trained. She is doing very well, still doesn't let me know anything but will use a puppy pad.  We are getting there.

Tomorrow, I have to make the drive to Sevierville to pick my daughter up from summer camp, so I won't be around to answer emails.

Down to one

All I have left is little Flower,  She is quite different with all her siblings gone.  She is very outgoing and playful.  She was so quiet and shy and now,  WOW! now she is the life of the party.

Her tail just doesn't stop wagging, she is soo happy all the  time.  She has been the runt for so long, I guess all she really needed was a little bit of the spotlight to really let her personality come out.

I took my eldest to summer camp Sunday.  We drove all the way to Sevierville!  Since we were in the area, we got a hotel and stayed the night so we could go to Dollywood.  It was packed, people everywhere!  The kids still had fun, there is always a lot to do.  While there I found some dog toys I really like.  They are made by TY beanie babies of all things!

I got a couple of these the last time I went to Sevierville, but have had a hard time finding them here in Clarksville.  Too crazy that Dollywood would carry them.  They are well made toys, that crinkle and squeak.  All the dogs just LOVE them.  They come in all shapes just like the Original Beanie Babies.  As crazy as it is they even "retire" some of them.  Just like Beaniebabies.

I grabbed a bunch more to go in my puppy drawer where i put all the goodies I find to go in the puppies goody bags. So my next litter will all be getting these BowWow beanies.  I just love how they crinkle!  I got a duck, 3 of the weeny dog, frog,  a few bones, pink puppy, oh this next litter is gonna love their toys.

Now you may ask  How?   How do I go on all these road trips with all my animals?  How can I possibly get away for any length of time, what about my puppies?

I hire a pet sitter.  I use Cumberland Pet sitting.  They take really good care of my pets and my home while I am away.  I highly suggest them to anyone out there who needs a break from home life but can't just leave the animals behind uncared for.

I used to leave my pets in a kennel and they were always depressed when I would pick them up.  They get a bit bored while I am gone, but not depressed.  I tell ya what, you leave the TV on, fluff their beds, leave the sitter all sorts of treats and they do enjoy being at home.  Now if i have little puppies, then they go with my sister. That way they get 24/7 attention.

2 down 2 to go

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Thunderstorms possible

Wow, it has been a whole week since I last updated this.  Alot has happened.

Went camping  forgot the fishing poles , met a nice RVer and they took the kids on their boat . Campsite was all sun no shade so everyone got burnt.  King Louie and Queenie Pie had fun swimming in the lake. Other than that they were bummed, they are not outdoor dogs and don't want to be!

Puppies had a blast staying with my sister.  I thought I spoiled them, sheesh, Mandy had them rotten!

The week went by so quick that before I knew it I was on my way to Chattanooga to drop off Moose.    I was running late, She was running late, but we made it.   I got to meet Roxy, Mooses new sister. She was a doll, just the cutest chocolate dapple I have ever seen.  Such a happy baby, I know her and moose will get along just fine.  Gina and family were so nice, they eww and cooed over that little boy like he was a baby. He will definitly be spoiled!

Since we were in Chattanooga I took the kids to visit one of the sites.  We had to do something pup friendly since I had Paige and Louie with me.  We decided to go to Ruby Falls .  They have an outdoor kennel in the shade.  It was really busy, very crowded, but alot of fun.  It was the first time my kids have been in a cave, they liked it a lot.  We have a cave here in town, Dunbar cave.  For some reason we just have never gone.  Now I REALLY want to take the kids!

No sooner did I have to say goodbye to Moose, that I had to say goodbye to Katie.  I just got back from meeting Mandy.  It was nice to finally meet her and have her meet Katie.  She had been waiting 8 long weeks to meet this girl. They were super nice, sweet kids that were so excited to finally hold her.  In the end I kissed and hugged Katie, gave her back to the daughter. Mandy gave me a hug and we were on our way back home.

It is always bittersweet when handing the pups over.  I still have Link and Flower.  Melissa comes to visit Link from time to time, but he will be staying with me for a just a little longer. I don't mind babysitting so she can have a vacation.  I am more than willing to hold onto these pups for as long as possible!  I have flower till she is adopted. Who knows how long or short that could be.  She is the smallest, my little runt.  She is just over 3lbs.  A tiny girl.  But just as spunky and full of life as her bigger siblings.

Little bit of Everything

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Cloudy, cool temperatures

Well, our Forth of July party got rained on but not out!  We had a blast rain or no rain.  My sister and friend Avery were out with an umbrella lighting off fireworks for the kids.  Thankfully there was no rain for the grilling and cookout part of or Party.

In other news...

This is what I came home to today after church......

My BRATTY dachshunds got bored and found a roll of paper towels I left out!   GRRRRrrrr, rotten dogs.

Of all the things they COULD chew up, this isn't so bad.  Rotten dogs.

In fun events......

Link found himself in the mirror.  So cute, He was barking and howling in my bedroom.  Anna went to see what was the matter and he was running up to my mirror all excited to see the "other" puppy.  I tried to get a video, but he stopped and wanted in my lap instead.

I did manage to get a snap shot, please don't mind my mess.  With 4 kids and puppies, my room is the very LAST to get any kind of clean!

Now I don't know if yall know this but Dachies like water.  They like to go swimming in the lake and play in the rain. Atleast all mine do!

Moose got into the big dogs water bowl and went swimming.  He had his front paws and chest soaking wet.  It was funny to see him walk when he got out of it.  It was like he had shoes on.  As akward as he felt getting out, it didn't stop him from getting right back in and then running with really wet feet across the front room.  I didn't get a picture of it unfortunatly.

Moose also found his forever home today!  He will be traveling all the way to Florida this weekend to meet his new Mommy, Gina!  He will be also meeting his new "sister" Roxy.  I know he fit in just perfectly.  Thanks Gina!

Favorite Toys

  • Mood:
  • Weather: sunny, and just really nice day

I send the pups to their new home with their favorite toy.

Now with Katie this would be the red rope and Link will be going home with the turtle and Moose the blue dog.  Some days though I wonder.......

With the way they act the may just be going home with paper towels and a PUPPY PAD!

May be its because it is first thing in the morning and they are happy to see me, but they go nuts when it is time to clean up and change out the pads.  They can be sound asleep, but as soon as they hear me crinkling the pads, picking them up they spring into action and just wait for the paper towels.

I spray soapy water and they still wait.   I bring out the paper towels and they jump in it.  Here I am trying to clean and they are gonna catch the big white ball of paper.  I wrestle with the pups, get it all clean.  Yes I know what your thinking "Duh, why don't you just take the pups out of the pen?" it doesn't help, they climb back in or try and catch the paper from between the bars.

Its worse with the puppy pads.... Oh how the chocolates love to chew on them.  I lay them all neat and tidy, and they (Moose and Katie) get under them and move them every which way.

My only hope is to put them in the main house and hope they don't notice me laying down the pads.   They won't mess with them after the fact, but if they are around while I try and lay them down.... it is impossible.

Its like kids, you buy a toy and its the box it came in that is the most fun.

I have been trying to get sample bags of their puppy food to go home with and I am having no luck.  I keep getting bounced around to different departments.

My samples of "Taste of the Wild" came in so the pups will have that in their bags.  It is an all stages of life food,  but I prefer an actual puppy food for the pups.

If anything they will be going home with a ziplock bag of puppy food, so you can mix the food together to adjust to your brand.

I don't know, I will find something,  I am gonna make a few phone calls and see what is the smallest bag I can get.

Companionship

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Sunny , but cool. There is a nice breeze

Now, I know none of you want to look at my chubby swollen toes, but I wanted you to see what I mean by companionship.

This is a Loving Loyal friend to me:

These pups could be anywhere right now.  Under a bed, curled up in their bed, or countless other places, but instead when they got tired they found me.

They know I am their "Mommy", I take care of them, I love them.  And when they go to their new homes with their new Mommies and Daddies they will love them just as much. Because they will know who loves them best.

To me that is a loyal friend and companion.  A pup/dog that can be anywhere but choses to be with you.  Doesn't it just melt your heart?!

That is why I breed, to give people Loving companions.  A pup that knows he is part of a family.

I raise them as part of the family, they are not in cages or kept outside or kept in a seperate building like big breeders do.  They are with my family, as part of the family to fit right into your family.

I know I am being all MUSHY!  I just love what I do.

It's Official

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Pretty nice day, cool in the shade

Sweet Link is officially adopted!  I'm sad and happy all at the same time.  He was my favorite, so much like his dad. (He has Louies goofy ears.) He is going to a great family, where he will have kids to play with.

So that is 2 down and 2 to go.  Flower and Moose are still waiting on their perfect family to come along.

Other than that there really hasn't been a lot going on.

I have been letting the pups have free roam of the house.  I keep puppy pads out, and they are doing pretty good at aiming for them.  Every now and then I find their surprises the hard way but they are learning.  Right now they are all out side playing with Anna, my eldest (11).

They are growing up so fast! Last night they were running free when the adult dogs were fed.  They waited for Cookie to finish and then tried polished off her kibble crunching the big bites as best they could.  I quickly said no no! It's Puppy food for you and gave them their watered down puppy food. You know what they did?!  They turned their noses up to it,  they didn't want "baby"food. Brats,  I left it for about 30 min. and when they didn't eat, I gave in.  I threw out the watered down kibble and gave it to them straight.  They liked that.  It's like little children "stop babying me MOM!"  So no more watered down puppy food for my growing BIG pups.

Puppy Pick up date changed

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Stayed inside all day cleaning.

The date for picking up the puppies has changed by one day.  Their to go date will be the 9th.  I have booked a camping trip the 6-8th.

I have not been camping in about 9ys.  Me and Kev have been promising the kids we would go for years!  We have all the gear, all we needed was motivation.  The Rotary Auction had camping available so I grabbed one.  Becky will be going with us, it is gonna be a lot of fun. If I don't melt in the sun!  Emily, is 6 and wants to go fishing, bought all the gear for that too, but never went last year. So will be doing a bit of fishing also.   It is disapointing that Kev can't go,  he is ruffing it though.

I get a few emails every now and then from people that have a lot of puppy questions, most I can answer, but this one left me scratching my head.

I was asked, when it comes to the difference between coats. Is long haired dogs more timid than short?

I answered as best I could.  That I think it is a nature vs. nuture argument, and that if a dog learns to be afraid it will be timid regardless of its coat.

I have longs, they are not timid. They think they are as big as any other dog out there, very confident.

Do any of you Dachshund lovers notice a difference in timidness amongst the coats?  I would love to hear about it, leave a comment!

OH, I almost forgot!  Their EYE color is coming in!  They puppy gray is fading out and the beautiful green is coming in.  I was showing moose to a neighbor and he said that his eyes are just beautiful! And they are a georgous hazel at the moment!

I just love green eyes on a dog,  I bought my breeding dogs specifically for their green eyes. It is very exciting to see the green come in!

Obviously from this website you can tell I favor GREEN!  May be its my Irish back ground..... Naaa, I just love the color green!

Car trip to Murfreesboro

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Some clouds, but still bright sunshine

Well, Mandy’s car needed and alternator. So we had to drive to Murfreesboro to go pick one up. My bestest friend Becky came over to sit with my kids.  It was a pretty good day and the puppies proved they are spoiled!

I will always say having a puppy is like having a small child, and this proves it.

I had the puppies running free in the main house all morning, till Becky showed up.  I put them in their pen, so I could leave.  They threw a fit, lots of whining, howling and yelping at me to come get them.   I stood my ground and said “NO, you will not roam free while I am gone”, my kids were helping the puppy’s argument “Please mom!”   No, it safer for them to be in bed.  They were still whining when I walked out the door.

I was gone for about 5 hours.  We found the car part, had lunch and drove home.  I walk in the door and the puppies are still throwing a fit, more whining.  “Oh my Goodness! Have they been doing this all day?!”  Becky says of course not, they stopped as soon as you walked out the door and didn’t start again till they heard you outside coming in the door. She then called me a push over, and that the puppies know what a push over mommy I can be. Who? Me? Never!

My kids did the same thing when I would drop them off at church childcare, fuss going in, play the whole time and fuss being picked up.   Yep, just like a child.

We had a nice little drive, it was hot. Had to have the AC on the whole time or risk melting.  All in all, it was a Fruitful drive, LOL yes pun intended, read on…..

We found a farmers market, and about 200 yds away was a farmer selling big ol watermelons off his truck.  Just what I needed for our 4th of July party!  I got a big one.

I also picked up a beautiful blue glazed ceramic pot I found off Campbellyardsales.com.  When I picked it up and was pleasantly surprised.  She said it was a small one. Well I have been looking at these types of pots for over a year, wanted one so badly but they are expensive.  She had the Medium size and I got it for $8!

We also took Queenie Pie with us.  She doesn’t get to go many places, she never wants to. Mainly because she is used to being left behind.  I only take the ones I can trust not to run off to the TinyTown house.  It is a fenced in yard, but it is not closed off, there is no gate.  Since Queenie is still a puppy, I don’t want to risk it.

I took her around town Thursday  and she did real well. She never tried to run away, she wasn’t scared.  Since she did so well the day before, I took her with us yesterday.  Again, she was so sweet.   I let her out the car and she would stay by me, even when she saw another dog. She just barked, but didn’t give chase or anything.  So very proud of her.

OK finally updated

  • Mood:
  • Weather: kind of hot, but not that bad

It was brought to my attention that i have not updated puppy pictures for 3 weeks.

Sorry! Been busy with school work these last few weeks.  This week is finals week . I have turned in my final projects and will have time to breathe these next 2 weeks, ahhh. relaxation

So pictures was my project for today.  Ever got a puppy to sit STILL for a picture? No? Well me neither!  I got the bright idea that maybe if I got some turkey they would be calmer and pay attention to the food. Yea right! They paid attention to the food all right, looked all over for it,  they were more distracted after they turkey than before.

I did get a few good shots in.  I think I am going to need to get a better camera.  I had a good camera, till my then 2yr old threw it.  One little dent and it wouldn't work anymore.  I bought this one because it was the same company.  This one keeps taking blurry pictures no matter what I do.  It is hard to get a good shot. Though when it does work, it works great!

King Louie, from day one, has always been at my feet. He loves me.  When I am at the computer, he is always sleeping under the chair. And right now I have a crowd below me; King Louie, Paige, link, moose, and flower are all sleeping under my chair.  They look so cute, I can't move, but they look cute!

I do hope they all get Louie’s loving personality.  He isn't much of a guard dog.  He will bark at anyone outside the fence, but once they come in the fence, he is their best friend. BRAT!

Paige on the other hand is my little protector. At least from strange dogs that show any aggression. Which is weird if you knew Paige.  She is very submissive, shows her belly and never tries for dominance, but golly day, if they are mean to me she will eat them.

oh, I gotta cut this short, My sister just called she is broke down.

Sister to the rescue! (darn no super man smilies)

Morning surprises

  • Mood:
  • Weather: partly cloudy, sun still shining, It is hot and humid. Thunderstorms last night.

I sold a guitar book online this weekend and the guy was supposed to pick it up this morning.  He called me around 8:30 and said he would be here shortly.  Well at 8:50, the doorbell sounds, and there is a cop at my door, full uniform.  I got confused, and worried. All sorts of stuff is running through my head, is something wrong!

He sees the look and my face and just gets this HUGE smile and says "You never know who your gonna meet online."    Too funny, he was nice, got his book and left.   Never would have expected a cop! LOL, all he said was he had to work Tuesday.  I am still chuckling.

Puppies are in the main house, running FREE.  It is like kids in a candy store, they are exploring everything!  I can't let them roam for too long, or else they will fall asleep under something and I won't find them for a couple of hours.

Today is also vaccination day,  all pups will be getting their first shots today.  It is hard to believe they are 6 weeks old!  They are pretty much completely weaned.  Mom won't let them nurse for but a couple of seconds then she moves.  They are eating their puppy food very well, and are drinking from a water bowl.

They are growing up.

Monday

  • Mood:
  • Weather: It was a hot one, sun made you run for the shade

Yep, its Monday.  It has been a quiet easy day, the way Monday should be.

I put the pups outside, but they said it was too hot today.  Even in the shade they just wanted to come in.

They do like the grass and have fun, but in the heat they just tire quickly.

So instead of having a lot of outside time, I compensated and let them roam free in the den.  King Louie, and Queenie love that the pups are getting older, because that means more playmates.  They are gentle with them, and the pups like it when they stay and play.  I am gonna have to get my camera on them one of these days, but King louie is such a ham that when the camera comes out he stops what ever he is doing.  I got lucky when I caught him playing with Queenie pie on the video.

When King Louie was about 8 months old, he found the mirror in my room and was determined to find the other "puppy", He kept running behind the mirror to catch him, but the other puppy just kept disapearing.  He did this till I got out the camera, then nothing.  Little turkey.  He licked the mirror, pawed at it and barked.   He was so excited when I brought home a REAL puppy,  Queenie Pie.

Dachshunds are very playfull pups, they love to cuddle, and are very kind spirited gentle creatures.  They have their moments, you have to raise them in a loving enviroment, But all in all free spirits that love to love.

Like I said it was a quiet day. Very simple day,  We ran some errands in the morn, and kids swam all afternoon.  It has been a great Monday!

Video

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Sun is going down, cooling off outside

I figured it out!  I know how to put a video on the website.  That is so very exciting!

All the pups were awake, and ready to play, so I grabbed the camera, so I can show you how sweet they sound.  It is not very long, but it is so much better than still shots of them.

  • Weather: It is a HOT one, Sunny

Yea! It's Fathers Day!

We are not doing anything with our DAD, he is in Afghanistan

We did get to talk to him, and let him know he has a box on the way.  We bought a bunch of brownie mixes and cookie supplies, so he will be stocked up on goodies!

So to all you Fathers out there, YOU are LOVED!  Happy Fathers Day.

Jail Birds!

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Sunny and humid, Kids are playing in the POOL!

Little stinkers are too smart for their own good!  The pen they are in has a 6" lip at the bottom of the door.  I have been leaving this door open so mom could come and go as she pleases.  Now I am gonna have to shut it!  Little turkeys have figured out a way to climb out!

They, (and I mean Katie) were so mad at me for shutting this door when I found them escaping.  Poor dear just whined and barked at me.  I do let them out mind you.  While I clean there pen every morning and evening they get free roam of the den.  They like that freedom, I don't blame them, but I got to confine the poop!

In other news I have started to actively advertise for the pups.  I put an ad in the local paper and in our community online yardsale site.  I am not sure where else to list the little darlings.  There is only 3 left, but it can be hard to find 3 homes, especially with the economy the way it is.  So if any of you have any ideas or know of someone that may want one, EMAIL ME!

Which reminds me.....

I checked the stats on this blog yesterday and had 52 visits!  I mean... WOW!  And NO ONE left me a comment

I think I am gonna go cry....  Ok im over it   Thanks for visiting!!  I think it is really cool so many people stopped by to read about my pups!

More Fun With Toys

  • Mood:
  • Weather: Thunderstorms around noon, then warmer slightly humid with sun shinning

Katie seems to be the only one who likes the rope toy, so I got some squeakers out to see if I could get the pups interested.

Moose (chocolate male) Flower (pie female) and Link (pie male) all came to see what was making noise. It took them less than a min to decide they were good for chewing on.

Flower and Moose were "sharing" the blue dog, till Moose decided his sister needed some chewing on as well.   He jumper her, and chewed on her ear.

Of course, she quickly said "No way Mister!" and pushed right back

In the end the turtle was the main event, he was pushed pulled, chewed and dragged
